"Under the WARCIP Liberia Project, the most challenging and extensive regulatory activity embarked upon by the LTA has been to facilitate the formation of the Cable Consortium of Liberia (CCL). The CCL is the Special-Purpose-Vehicle (SPV) created to construct, own and operate the $25 million Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) Liberia Landing Station. It is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) venture comprised of the Government of Liberia (GoL) represented by the Ministry of Finance (60% share), Liberia Telecommunications Corporation (Libtelco) (20% share), Lonestar Communications Corporation (Lonestar) (10% share), and Cellcom Telecommunications Inc. (Cellcom) (10% share)," Liberia Telecommunications Authority Commission Chair, Anelique Weeks said Friday, September 30th during the official launch of LARCIP . |

Willie Knuckes, probably the most powerful individual within the Unity Party Elite structure, appears to be back. In its September 18th news story, "Back in the Game, Willie Knuckles Appears in Public with Pres. Sirleaf," the Front Page Africa news magazine hinted at what will indeed be the case should Unity Party win the next election: The return of the big-shots and big guns of the UP. Since the President will not be seeking re-election in a second term, these big-guns, including Knuckles, who have stood by her for more than 30 years, will dominate the Unity Party. |
