With barely five months to the conduct of the general and presidential elections, recent developments including attacks on journalists by House Speaker Alex Tyler and other state actors, as well as the upsurge in police brutality against unarmed civilians by officers of the Liberian National Police unfolding in the country, suggest that Liberia is gradually slipping down the slope, something if not checked could crack the nation’s emerging democracy and the relative peace Liberians now enjoy.

Brown at the official launching of the National Democratic Coalition also known as the "Lion and Deer Union" on May 21, 2011, strewn and often replete with redundancies.
