Former employees of the National Housing Authority (NHA), numbering about twenty nine (29), are requesting the management of the entity to pay them their equitable retirement benefits and salaries arrears, among others due them, from 1991 to 2008. In two separate letters written to President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf as well as the Chairman and Members of the Board of Directors of NHA, the aggrieved former workers, including managers and technocrats, alleged that the NHA management's action is in gross violation of the Institution's Personnel Administration Regulations (PAR) guidelines of December 10, 1996, which call for the payment of retirees' full benefits to them on the basis of their most recent monthly salary earnings (that is salary at the time of retirement).

SIME DARBY RESTORES HOPES-In Western Liberia

Residents in Western Liberia, particularly the Guthrie Rubber Plantation in Cape Mount and Bomi Counties have begun breathing fresh air following the taking over the plantation by a Malaysian Company, Sime Darby recently. Besides the numerous development activities being carried out by Sime Darby, with the renovation of damages structures and rehabilitation of roads in the area, the Management of the company last week inaugurated the planting of more than 40 million oil palm seeds.

The Deputy Minister for education at the Ministry of Education, Mathew Zarzar has disclosed the construction of housing units for District Education Officers DEO, County Education Officer, CEO and classroom teachers living in Sinoe County. Deputy Minister Zarzar made the disclosure on Saturday April 3, 2010 at a well attended a mass meeting of Sinoe citizens held at the New Kru Town Elementary and Junior High School in Monrovia .
