APPRECIATION OF UNMIL & THE UNITED NATIONS COMMUNITY IN LIBERIA BY THE IN PROFILE DAILY FOR BRINGING US PEACE AND SUSTAINING IT THUS FAR, HELPING US IN OUR REBUILDING PROCESS IN EVERY FACET AND AT EVERY STEP.

WEEK OF JUNE 21-25, 2010

WHEN we needed a stronger and richer hand encompassing the entire international community, UNMIL was born to ensure that Liberia stays on track and not self destruct in the wake of several years of warfare that left thousands dead and thousands more displaced into foreign countries.

AND with the birth of UNMIL, the UN Community became more cohesive and very much involved in caring for the plight of Liberia's war victims and the country at large; UNMIL, UNHCR, UNDP, UNAIDS, UNOPS, UNFPA, UNPA, UN-HABITAT, OHCHR, UNEP, UNESCO, UNDG, UNIFEM, ECA, UNICEF, plus many others have been there under arduous circumstances in this time of international financial constrains and donor fatigue, be it in the field, on hazardous streets, you have helped the Liberian People see a flickering of light at the end of the tunnel, you have given us hope so fervent that we are once again slowly, but surely, returning to the comity of nations.

AS a result of your individual organizations, the tireless work you do in underwriting one project after the other, implementing this or that, effortlessly nudging this country forward, Liberians are by far better off today than we were four years ago, more united and looking at a common future; with Liberia as the catalyst, we can now boast of a diverse, freer, vociferous and vibrant political and war-free landscape far more surpassing our neighbors and gaining acclaim in the world. We highly commend you for your dedicated, fearless and tireless service; our neighbors and friends can now sleep in peace, for we are no longer exporting fighters, but hopes that in it all, we can bounce back to life and be a proud people again because of organizations like yours.

NOW therefore, in consideration of your bravery, fearless and sacrificial services being rendered to the People of Liberia, commonly bunched together as INGOs, and on behalf of the Board of Advisors, the Management and Staff of this publication, please permit us to express our admiration for the firm and illuminating characters and qualities you continue to exhibit in the discharge of your duties on this Mission To Liberia.

Congratulations, UNMIL & THE UNITED NATIONS COMMUNITY IN LIBERIA, for yours have always been helping us maintain a fragile but stable peace that is gradually inching to a point of trial under your collective watch. We thank you for being in Liberia and please enjoy your roses for the remarkable service to this Land of Liberty!
