Dear God In Heaven:
From where we hail and sit we could imagine your heavenly throne and your angels all wearing the golden crowns singing praises and rejoicing heartily. You had shared with us, as nation and people, all that we need to live in heaven. Logically you had provided our portion of heaven.

You told us to share love and be one another’s keeper socially, politically and economically. You told us to equally do on earth as it is being done in heaven. In others words, we must love, unite, and create a socially and economically conducive environment for ourselves using these guidelines. In that way we would enjoy your grace and live a happy life here in Liberia. Indeed, all that would make us happy had since been allotted as our portion since creation many, many years ago. But our Dear God, life for us, as nation and people, had and continues to dangle and spin with bitterness. By bitterness we mean the repetition of the ugly past where the law was dragged in the mud by politically privileged people, where corruption was heavily based in the hearts of the leaders; where nepotism and tribalism were commonly the order of the day and where praise singing was the method used for promotion or recruitment in government.

We the Concerned Citizens of the Republic of Liberia, therefore wish to reject these ugly ways that have begun to reappear in the society under the Unity Party led government. For instance, the greed for wealth has surpassed all other things; selfishness has become the way of national life; corruption is bleeding the nation at all levels; while the law of the land drags in the mud.

We don’t know where to turn for redemption because those in whom we had placed our reliance and trust have turned destructive vices against our social and economic lives. Although the hostilities we experienced during the regime of the guns have ceased-there still remains a white collar war including high level corruption, lack of true national vision to take us, the citizens, from one level to the other, etc.

Dear God, it may provoke your anger to know that our national wealth has never been equally distributed except that is it being squandered by a few people in whose trust and confidence we placed our power. It may provoke your anger to know that our leaders are only good at rhetoric and empty praises, thereby keeping the nation socially and economically dormant.

It is against this background that we use this opportunity to apply for your intervention to confuse the minds of all those in the habit of robbing our state, keeping us poor, and making us vulnerable to sins. Dear God, we pray against the culture of homosexuality and lesbianism that appears to be gaining ground in our society. Most young boys are turning themselves into women to gain preference for Jobs in government or in the private sector.

We pray against the culture of nepotism and who-know-you that rampantly exists in our society thereby quashing away merit system. Lord, we have nowhere to turn for safety; nowhere for sanctuary; nowhere to redress our concerns all because those who took oath to manage our resources have all turned corrupt and wicked.
