Dear God In Heaven:
It is worthy to pray for leaders. When leaders err as result corruptible minds, their errors equally have adverse effects on their subjects and the society as a whole. Leaders, we believe, are your direct representatives because it is they whom you use to steer your people to nobler destiny.
Because power and money often corrupt the minds of the leaders, there is equally the need for the people to pray for them so as to be protected against being carried away by the dictates of the devil. As a matter of fact, one becomes a prime target of the devil when one decides to pursue the path of morality, seek Christ as the roadway to sanctuary as well as adopt the tenet of democracy. The devil interrupts, changes one’s mind and have him/her converted into going contrary to one’s vows and declaration when one assumes the sacred responsibilities of leading his/her people, especially in a revolutionary manner.
It is in this respect, Lord that we present to you our leader, Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf so that you can personally prevent and protect her from further leading the nation in wrong direction. The wrong direction includes the adoption and practice of nepotism, which has awarded strategic places of economic relevance in the hands of his children. Lord, we want her to remember that once upon the political time she criticized others for practicing nepotism. We want her to remember that once upon the time she stood in the middle of politics, decreed and declared a new Liberia where distribution of national wealth would be the order of the day. Let her remember that she is on record for naming herself as ‘Iron Lady’ and the right person to take Liberia from the level of darkness to light. She made corruption Number One enemy of the state when taking oath as president of the nation. She promised to serve only one term but has managed succeed herself and is now serving the second term. We want her to realize that the eggs of corruption are being hatched in the hearts and minds of most, if not all of her lieutenants. Lord she appears carried away by the lust of wealth and power. For instance, she appears to be eyeing the third term in office judging from her skewed political attitude.
It is against this background that we seek your intervention to let her see the hallow and infliction the nation incurs. Lord may you strengthen her and extract from her nature those weaknesses that don’t augur well for our nation. The weaknesses as we have observed include the clever manipulations aimed at breaking apart other democratic institutions, placing her confidants above the law, and giving blind eye to her close associates whenever they are booked for corruption. Lord she has surrounded herself with the recycled politicians, most of who lack the interest of the state and people. It is against this attitude that we present her to you for spiritual rehabilitation. Lord may you open her eyes and ears to the cries of the poverty-stricken and take appropriate precaution. It is our hope that you would listen and act upon our prayer in Jesus mighty name-Amen.
