Dear God In Heaven: The House of Senate representing the Upper Class of the Liberian Legislature has passed a bill excluding same sex marriage in the Liberian society. The action of the Senate follows spiraling threats and sustained advocacy by certain group to make same sex marriage legal in the nation.
In the wisdom of the group who is behind the gay culture men should have the free will to marry men likewise women. Lord, we welcome this gesture by the Senate but we still feel and believe that she is deceiving the public. The fact remains that the Senate has double tongue; lacks the will power to stand by what she says; cannot be trusted because of proven instances where she has abused her own vow. The case in point has to do with the reposition of its confidence in the acting Monrovia City Mayor Mary Broh soon after it has passed vote of no confidence in her for being unsuitable and disrespectful character in the society. She (Senate) had therefore publicly registered her annoyance and vowed never to do business with the acting Monrovia city mayor.
But against the expectation of the Liberian people who at the time harbored the feeling and belief that the Senate would set an example to protect and prevent the dignity of that honorable body from dragging in the mud, she changed tongue and let the acting city mayor off the hook. It is believed that the secret meeting the president had with them on the matter played a major role in having them change tongue. Cash is said to have been dashed on her lap. As a result public confidence in the Senate presently stands on the burning wax. So Lord, here we go again. The same Senate has passed a bill barring gay marriage in the Liberian society.
In as much as the decision sounds politically melodious as far as the interest and expectations of the Liberian people are concerned, the confidence and believability of the Liberian people in the Senate regarding policy matters remain on the ice given what she is capable of doing. Lord, we the concerned citizens of Liberia wish to pray against any act of deceit as it relates to the gay issue which, if left unchecked, could pollute our culture and damage the future of the nation. Frankly speaking, we do not trust those who took oath to represent us because the tendency of raising funds against public interest by public officials has become the order of the day. Power is being exchanged for dollar and dollar is taking the lead in inviting alien doctrines into the society.
Hence, we pray against any form of deceit in the face of the gay marriage temptation that is seeking its way gradually into the country. We pray because the western world that seeks to drill the idea into the country has pledged to assist the nation with US4m if the gay marriage is placed in legal frame. Given the temptation involved and the undercover benefit each lawmaker possibly stands to get, we pray that you personally intervene and thwart any act of deceit in the process. This is our prayer in your mighty name-AMEN.
