SHARING MY MIND

Whenever we endeavor to explore into biblical history to establish the basis of creation as well as all elements that formed part of the wonderful events along the way, the pungent sojourn of the children of Israel in Egypt under Pharaoh will always appear at the vertex.

The bible speaks of the hostile situation that hosted them as far as the dictates of slavery were concerned while in Egypt. It can be simply understood that inhumane treatments were made their greater portion under Pharaoh’s command. One may be right to perceive that unlike bees that work collectively and in unison to produce honey for the general good of all of its members, the children of Israel were made to produce honey for the children of Egypt. The hope and faith of redemption from the suppressive regime, no doubt, could not escape their minds. Hope and faith are the food for the soul especially in the wake of evils that are often designed and vented by men against their fellows. They would wish for the days when their freedom could come. There were hundreds of them that could not reject hosting misgivings because the possibility of redemption could not be measured from a close range. However, there were hundreds others who would cleave unto the hope and faith that that God’s intervention could come about in the face of the highest heights of Pharaoh’s suppression and repression. And thus they would pray for freedom although while in Egypt they had the opportunity to share pieces of bread and water.

As the story goes their freedom came when a prepared and heavenly guided Moses led them from captivity to the Promised Land. Promised Land is the designated place of peace and rest for people that had undergone harsh treatment in Egypt under Pharaoh.

In Liberia there are so many Pharaohs and Egypts still around holding others hostage. The Egypts are the culture of organized sycophancy that has swallowed the truth and sincerity. The Egypts have to do with the greed for wealth and power that has developed the tradition of nepotism in the society. The Egypts could be equated to the lack of common sense on the part of power users to develop the state and people and let them rise above poverty line. The Egypts could be empty praises for pieces of bread that has become the new formula for earning positions in government. I think it will correct to liken the Egypts to the new emerging culture of homosexuality and lesbianism which appears to be the price for elevation in society.

Indeed, were you to see through my eyes, you would certainly see the ugly past rearing its unsightly head again in the society. The ugly past has to do with the culture of lawlessness, non patriotic spirit, tribal hatred, who-know-you and all other sinister attributes that are not healthy for the growth and development of a civilized society. The ugly past also include mismanagement of needed state funds thereby promoting the culture of corruption in the society. In my opinion the ugly past can be equated to cherishing the values of what others have while failing to identify the values of ours and make them socially and economically comfortable for all and sundry. The ugly past could also be equated to the weak labor law that does not protect decent work habit since the weaker ones are still being suppressed and harassed by their employers.

It is therefore my wish and prayer that God does not keep the children too long in the various Egypts under their respective Pharaohs that they should loss hope and faith in His redemptive power.

Indeed, there so many Pharaohs in the society found in high places. The Pharoahs are wicked nature individuals who hate to identify values in other and promote them. They are those who believe in themselves and not others. They are those who dismiss others based on witch-hunt and mere malice.
