President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a condolence message to the Government and People of the People’s Republic of China, following the news of a tragic landslide which buried between 30 to 40 people and affected more than 508,000 people in the Sichuan Province as a result of a heavy down pour of rain.

The incidence which led to the evacuation of 36,800 people and damaged around 300 homes occurred on Friday July 12, 2013 following a week long storm during night hours.

In her massage to His Excellency XI Jinping, President   Johnson Sirleaf on behalf of Liberia extended heartfelt condolences to the Government and People of China, especially the bereaved families as they go through this period of national mourning, adding she received the news with deep regrets and sorrow.

The Liberian leader further prayed for courage and solace for President Jinping and his compatriots as they go through this period of national distress.
