The Chief Medical Doctor of the Redemption Hospital in New Kru Town, Dr. John T. Dada has been accused of engaging in '419' scam activities at medical centers in Monrovia . A lady identified as Comfort Weah, who claimed to be victim of the 419 scam, explained that she had carried her son to the John F. Kennedy Medical Center for treatment. Upon arrival at the JFK, Madam Weah revealed that she came across Dr. Dada, who transferred her to the Redemption Hospital, with the promise to carry out a surgical operation on her son, who suffers hydro-seed.
According to Madam Weah , she took her son to the JFK with the hope that her son would have gone under operation free of charge because it is a public health care center; something alleged Dr. Dada had consented to do. But Madam Weah narrated that Dr. Dada surprisingly charged her US$150.00 before admitting her son for three days. However, due to the urgency attached to her son's condition, Madam Weah said she appealed to Dr. Dada to accept US$25 as advance payment for the US$150.00 charged. She alleged that Dr. Dada received the US$25 to perform the operation, but Madam Weah furthered that her son spent three days at the hospital without any medical attention as promised; neither did she see Dr. Dada even up to present.
Another lady identified as Elizabeth Forh alleged that she paid US$150.00 to Dr. Dada to perform a surgical operation on her, but the accused has since reneged on to carry out the operation. She said the whereabouts of Dr. Dada is still unknown and he cannot be found anywhere around on Bushrod Island, among others. Also reports gathered by this paper indicate that Dr. Dada is not a specialist in surgical operation but has been introducing himself as a surgeon, apparently to accomplish his alleged '419'. People at the Redemption Hospital confided that Dr. Dada has abandoned the Redemption Hospital for another assignment at the United Nations Family Planning Association (UNFPA).
When contacted at the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Dada neither confirmed nor denied of being a non-surgeon, but however asserted that any professional person must get compensation for what he or she does.
Dr. Dada confessed that he sometimes charges his patients 'professional fees', something that raises more questions than answers because all government employees are paid for works done with Dr. Dada not an exception.
Commenting on his new assignment at the UNFPA, Dr. Dada confirmed working with the organization; something he said has unable him sometime to be constant at Redemption Hospital. He however denied ever engaging in a '419' scam as being insinuated by his detractors. Investigation continues.
