The Commercial City of Ganta in Nimba County will on Saturday, April 25, 2009 be a scene of the formal launching ceremonies of a newly established civil society organization known as the Nimba County Initiative for Education (NICE). Speaking to journalists in Ganta over the week end, the Chairman of the organization, Mr. Harrison Luo said the new civil education organization was put into place to carry out research activities and advocate for the transparent utilization of the county's vast natural resources.
Mr. Luo noted that the Launching program will be attended by an array of government officials including Grand Kru County Senator, Blamo Nelson, Grand cape Mount County Senator, Abel Massaley, Nimba County Lawmakers and Education Minister, Joseph D. Z. Korto, among others. According to him, Unity Party Secretary General Henry Fahnbulleh is expected to serve as the Chief Launcher.
Also speaking to journalists in Ganta, the Secretary General of the organization Mr. Zawolo Zuagele indicated that the new dispensation calls for transparency and accountability, and as such, NICE will educate Liberian people about the unfolding social, political and economic developments not only in the county, but also across the country. Mr. Zuagele, who is also a former Representative of Nimba County, revealed that the program will bring together various community based organizations operating in the county.
Meanwhile, the Principal of the J. W. Pearson High School in Ganta, Nimba County, Mr. James Saye Kadamie has expressed happiness over the formulation of the new initiative, asserting that the civil education would enable citizens know about the social, political and economic cycles of the nation. |
