The 3rd Division League Play-off matches which were expected to kick off across the country last week Friday, September 16 2011, once again failed to take place as some playing pitches that were purpose to be used for the matches were seen abundant.


The competition however, kicked-off on Monday to the surprise of many clubs supporters in thirteen (13) locations, including the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia, Jacobs Town Sport Pitch in Paynesville, D-Tweh field in New Kru Town among other. Over Sixty-two (62) 3rd Division League teams are battling for the two qualification spots to the second flat of Liberian Football, the Second Division League.


The Director of Leagues and Competitions at the Liberia Football Association, Benedict Yarsiah earlier told reports that the 3rd Division League player-off was the hold-on to the start of the National Leagues in the country. The 3rd Division League Play-off has started since Monday, September 19 across the country.


Meanwhile, the chief referee of Liberia, Mr. Ebenezer S. Konah said the LFA has given them some of their indemnities they were demanding and they are now ready to go to the playing pitch to perform their duties.


The Play-off matches when completed will see the two finalists promoted to the Second Division League. The spots were created by the promotion of Gardnesville FC and FC Fassell to the First Division League.
