Established through the dream and vision of Dr. Peter Weatoe some five years ago, the Zoe-Geh Medical Center, located in Glarlay Town, Nimba County seems to be capturing the attention of interested investors and philanthropic institutions given the level of progress made at the center.
Described as a golden opportunity for the people of that part of Nimba, the 120-bedroom medical center is reportedly serving its intended purpose and thus squarely meeting the desired results as far as medical and surgical needs of the people are concerned. The hospital is estimated at USD 8million.
Dr. Peter Weatoe, himself a citizen of that area developed the dream while in the United States of America being led by a sense of patriotism to do something for his people. Dr. Weatoe has since been shuttling between Liberia and the United States seeking the blessings of interested groups or individuals to help his dream come to fruition.
In light of this an American millionaire, Dr. Woodrow Gandy and family, all of whom are medical personnel recently honored the invitation of Dr. Weatoe and subsequently visited the area. They expressed excitement over the progress made at the center and promised to assist in whatever possible way.
Dr. Gandy and family were highly welcomed by the citizens who expressed the hope that the visit of the American family would bear fruits. The citizens hailed them for the uttered interest to visit the medical center. Dr. Gandy and team performed some surgical services while visiting the center.
Observers are impressed about the work being done by Dr. Peter Weatoe who is said to be touching the lives of the people medically. “Weatoe’s dream and vision are practically the solution as far as health care delivery system is concerned.
“Weatoe has the key and he must press forward to touch the lives of the people,” said a Zoe-geh student attending the University of Liberia. Stephen Wandah told our reporter that he was impressed and moved by Weatoe’s example which he said will mark the true redemption of the people of Zoe-geh especially in the of health care delivery system.
He prayed that the seeds being drilled by Weatoe will bear the desired result for the benefit of the Zoe-geh people whom he said constitute the largest and most populated district in Nimba County.
Another citizen of Zoe-geh, attending the Cuttington University College, Sarah Doakeh said if Zoe-geh is to move ahead, there must be more dreamers and visionaries such a Weatoe’s type. She said it is about time Zoe-geh move to an appreciable level in all aspects of life. She called on the government to help rehabilitate the road leading to the hospital since the hospital has become the center of attraction as far as health services are concerned.
