“Wakening up early morning and not hearing music, news, public service announcements and entertainment amongst others, I feel like I am out of the entire world,” One elderly man told me.
What many people do not understand is that, those things do not just get on the various radio stations by magic, but rather through the efforts of the various producers and presenters.
These efforts are made through many challenges by those involved ranging from, breaking of night rest, huddles in getting to job on time, coupled with putting things together during production and finally serving the public day and night who depends on the various radio stations for information, entertainment and relaxation as they carry on their activities.
Curious know the happenings in government, private sector and their surroundings the citizens monitor the morning shows through their phones at work places and business centers.
Some are seen walking in the streets hold their radios to the ears or mobile phones to follow the discussions on these radios.
In today’s edition of the In Profile Daily newspaper, we have decided to capture few of those morning shows including their presenters or producers.
TALK ABOUT IT (KING’S 88.5 FM.) Talk About It is a morning show presented on King’s 88.5 FM from 9-10 AM daily giving the opportunity to Liberians to discuss issues of national concern, be it political, social or economic.
The two-hour morning show has various segments including newspapers review, multinational talks and the discussion point, now being presented by Moses Carter and Ishmel Sheriff. The show was introduced in 2005 with then host, Ahmas Pabai .
HOT TALK (HOT 107.9 FM.) Hot Talk is a two-hour live radio program produced and presented by Fahn G. Fombah and Josephus E. Bettie on Hot 107.9 FM, and sponsored by the In Profile Daily newspaper.
It affords Liberians the opportunity to discuss national issues that tend to burn their minds both in Liberian and the world at large. Hot Talk is aired on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10Am-12PM, while on Tuesdays and Thursdays, it is aired 9- 11AM.
JUST ANOTHER DAY (J.A.D. SKY 107 F.M.) Just Another Day (J.A.D.) is a full magazine program that highlights all of the major happenings of the day from 7:30 to 9:A.M. on Sky FM 107. The Program which is presented by Sam Andrews and D. Francis Pelenah bring in news, interviews with prominent and ordinary Liberians and other segment like “What’s In The Papers” highlighting the major stories in the print media.
JAD is also conducts live studio interviews and other talking points thereby creating the chance for the participation of listeners via mobile phone.
LOVE FM 105 (MORNING SHOW) The Love FM 105 morning show comprising of various segments called the “Early Morning Talk” runs from Monday to Friday, 7:45-10AM, discussing various issues affecting the Nation.
It gives Liberians the opportunity to have their say via text messages and telephone calls with Presenters Jallah Gradefield and Richmond Paye. They also review the local dallies.
TRUTH BREAKFAST SHOW (TBS- TRUTH 96.1 F.M.) The True Breakfast Show is a style of broadcasting that is new to the Liberian media industry and it was given birth by broadcast Journalist Darius Ambrous Mnah, then head of the Renaissance Communications Incorporated (RCI).
The simmer-cast presentations composed of segments, including multinational talks, sports, review of the local dalies and Serious Talk For Serious People.
TBS current presenters include, Mary Williams, Christopher Selee and Mamadee Diakety, and runs for two and the half hours, 7: 30 to 10 AM.
ISSUES OF THE DAY (POWER 93.3 F.M.) There are many issues that unfolds from every part of Liberia, be it political, social, and economic amongst others. As a means of affording the people the opportunity to know and discuss them, Power F.M. 93.3 morning show “Issues Of The Day” has become the one stop shop for such.
The program which is produced and presented by Daniel T. Wleh Jr. is aired Mondays to Fridays 10 -11AM. The show also considers the reading of local newspapers.
FABRIC RADIO FM. 101.1 (THE NEW DAWN) The New Dawn is a three-hour live interactive show which runs from 7-10AM daily on FABRIC 101.1 FM. The show discusses political, social, educational and economic issues with the aim of informing, educating and entertaining the public as they start up their daily activities.
The show presented by Kelvin Demey is divided into various segments including The Rounds which runs from 7-8AM,highlighting the major issues with callers having their say, 8:05 – 8:15 AM , followed by sports, 8:15-9AM and The issues and Talk time 9-10:AM .
SUPER MORNING SHOW (ELBC 99.9) The Super Morning Show (SMS) is the State Radio (ELBC) early morning magazine program that runs from 6:30 to 10:00am week days – Mondays thru Fridays.
The three-hour and thirty minutes show has several segments to inform, educate and entertain the listeners.
These segments include Pure Power, a motivational thought; Business & Finance News; Sports; Talk to the Nation – the phone-in and text segment, which affords listeners the opportunity to express their views and concerns on national and community issues affecting them.
The program reviews the local dailies and raised issues for immediate and future discussion.
Gospel and secular music (Local, African and Western) are played regularly on the show. LBS Director General, Darryl Ambrose Nmah, is the Chief Presenter, while Sorbor George and Oliver Hoggard are co-presenters.
The Super Morning Show was introduced by the LBS Management about a year ago and it is the nation’s hottest radio magazine program and is relayed by many community radios in rural Liberia.
