The long running US 1m case between Reverend Matthew Sakueh, Director of ABC Liberia and the Founder of ABC International, Margret Palsdottir et all is at the verge of reaching legal finality with the jurors rendering opinion in favor of the latter, an action the legal counsels of the former had filed a motion against in open court at the Criminal Court ‘C’ at the Temple of Justice In Monrovia before His Honor Judge Peter Gbeneweh.
But, while the case is still legally in transit awaiting the final opinion of the court, the sitting judge, His Honor Judge Peter Gbeneweh has comfortably posted for a picture with the plaintiff which was discovered on the website of the ABC Children Aid International.
The Counsel for the defendant had filed in a motion on the bases of the lack of sufficient and logical evidence adduced by the plaintiff to convict their client and deny him the ownership of the US1m dollars property being constructed along the ELWA-Roberts field Highway.
The ABC Children Aid Liberia is a church organization based in Liberia being headed by Rev. Sekueh with the objective of building mission to help boost the educational program of the country following prolonged years of war.
Funds for the construction of the mission has been forthcoming through the lobbying of the Director, Rev. Sekueh, from philanthropic groups in Europe and elsewhere. Rev. Sekueh is reported to have made a representation regarding the appalling plight of the children of Liberia and the need to build a mission as a way of harnessing the educational growth of the country. The sustained and persistent representation of Rev. Sekueh, according to the story, won the hearts of the plaintiff who volunteered to be custodians of funds donated by these philanthropic groups. It is reported that the custodianship of the plaintiff was on the basis of an agreed commission of 10% on the expected donation.
Accordingly, the defendant was made to appear on TVs and newspapers based on the intervention of the private prosecutors. It is reported that the defendant made three trips to Iceland and Faroe Island where he is reported to have appeared in TV and presented the vision of AIEM to the Faroe Island parliament who also endorsed US150,000 for the Liberian project. The impression being established by the appeals of the AIEM director, led the plaintiffs to suggest that the organization be named ABC Aid International to make it attractive to the donors and for the ease of transfer of funds from the donors.
To date, the funds donated in the tone of more than US 1m dollars have been used in line with the plan and purpose. Our investigation disclosed that the plaintiffs have been moved rather maliciously to kick Rev, Sakueh out of the whole show and take possession of the property. Our sources described the game as very deadly and could discourage Liberians willing to seek goodwill out there for the growth and development of the country.
What ponders legal observers is that while the court is at the verge of making a final judgment, in the face of the motion filed by the legal counsel for the defendant and the decision of the petty jurors, the sitting judge seems to be prejudicing the process when he allowed himself to take picture with the plaintiffs at the eve of the verdict.
