The General Manager of a Chinese company, Wonderful New Energy Industry, has disclosed the arrival of five-40ft containers in Monrovia for the continuation of traffic lights installation.

The company is responsible for the installation of traffic lights across the city and other surroundings.

Mr. J.D. Sun said three of the containers are already on the compound of the Ministry of Public Works loaded with light poles and other equipment while   two remain at the Freeport of Monrovia.

He said the project is expected to commence shortly following the removal of other containers from the Freeport of Monrovia.

According to him, there are sufficient spare parts and tools within the containers for standby in case of any shortage or damage.

He made the disclosure Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in an interview with the In Profile Daily in Monrovia.

Mr. Sun indicated that the installation of the traffic lights in Monrovia is part of the Chinese Government’s efforts to support Liberia’s rebuilding process.

The company’s manager pointed out that his company has already started installing the traffic lights, making reference to the ones installed at the Vai Town bridge on Bushrod Island.

Mr. Sun has called on Liberians most especially those within Montserrado County to make positive use of the lights and take them as their own.

When contacted, the Acting Director for Transport Engineering Division at the Ministry of Public Works, Mr. A. BlamohTugbah confirmed the arrival of the containers.

Mr. Tugbah disclosed that those reflectors installed on various light poles from VAMOMA House to the St. Joseph’s Catholic Hospital junction are part of the Chinese company’s project.
