House Speaker Alex Tyler has said the pullout of ELENITO from the country after signing huge concession agreements should serve as a caveat to them (Legislators) who are clothed with the authority of signing concession agreements.

Speaker Tyler made the statement Wednesday, January 9th when he appeared as guest on the “Truth Breakfast Show” of the Renaissance Communication Inc. in Monrovia.

According to him, he and his colleagues will ensure that future concession agreements will be rightly ratified before signing them into law.

He also indicated that recent disagreements and settlement between the Legislature and the Executive Branches of government prove to the fact that the country’s democracy is on the right trajectory.

The Bomi County Lawmaker further noted that criticisms are good for the development of the nation, but should be done in a constructive manner because it also helps policy makers to make informed choices.

Speaker Tyler also disclosed that the recent bickering between the   Executive and Legislative Branches relating to the oil sector has been resolved.

Meanwhile, the Speaker has stressed the need for the opening up of the rest of the country by engaging into reconstruction in the leeward counties so as to boost economic activities in those areas.

At the same time, a member of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), James Gray, said there is a need for the legislature to reduce some of the powers of the National Oil Company of Liberia, especially the mandate to negotiate contract or concession agreements as well as regulating the expenditure of that entity.
