The Chief Operating Officer of the Foundation For Women-Liberia (FFWL), David F. Beyan has disclosed plans by the organization to provide microcredit finance loan to 5,000 Liberian women across Liberia.

According to him, the process of giving out the loan will begin shortly this year as part of the organization’s efforts in helping national government in reducing poverty in the country. He made the disclosure Thursday January 17, 2013 in Monrovia.

Mr. Beyan said the FFWL will give the microcredit finance loan to Liberian women interested in doing business and those currently doing mini-businesses.

The microcredit finance COO also indicated that the organization’s reason for giving the loan is to help provide job opportunity to thousands of Liberian women through self employment.

He believes through this means the women will get involved into business after the loan is given to them by the organization. He added that this will also help many women send their children to school.

Mr. Beyan also believes women, most especially those doing business, serve as bread winners for their homes as well.

According to him, the institution has been able to reach out to market women in 13 counties of the country so far and provided loan to 3,600 market women since the establishment of the organization in 2007.

He indicated that the organization has faced difficulties over the years to reach to other counties like Gbarpolu, Grand Kru and River Gee Counties because most of the counties do not have banking facility while others are facing serious bad road condition.

Mr. Beyan further disclosed that business women, who are currently benefiting from the microcredit finance program, sometime get increment in their loan especially when the organization noticed that one is determined.

At the same time, the FFWL Chief Operating Officer has disclosed that the organization has also provided loan to disabled persons including men.

He indicated that disabled men are given loan by the organization because those individuals have no means out but only for some or an organization to help them.
