Libya’s Minister Plenipotentiary for Africa in the Libyan Foreign Affairs Ministry Mohamed Salem Salim has praised the efforts of the Managing Director of the Libyan African Investment Company/Liberia for the very instrumental role he played in making the donation of 13 agricultural tractors to Liberia a reality.

Speaking during the presentation of the 13 tractors to the people of Liberia on February 11,2013 Armed Forces Day, the Libyan official described  Dr. Musstfa Ali Elbagdadi as an Ambassador for peace and development between Libya and Liberia.

Liberia’s Foreign Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan who received the donation on behalf of the Liberian Government  also recognized the efforts of Dr. Ali Elbagdadi. Minister Ngafuan rained praises on the Managing Director of the Libyan African Investment Company/Liberia whom he said worked as Liberia Ambassador to Libya and Libya Ambassador to Liberia during these negotiations.

Earlier, Dr. Musstfa Ali Elbagdadi, the only Libyan in Liberian since the Libyan Crisis that led to the subsequent closure of the Libyan mission here in Liberia, introduced the Libyan delegation and emphasized the need for the tractors to be used for cultivation.

He stated that this followed a joint effort from both sides to get access to the equipment and machinery.  He disclosed that relevant officials in Libya were contacted at the time but the fact that the Libyan people were slowly re-organizing themselves caused the delay in the donation.

A brief ceremony in the compound of the Libyan embassy in Sinkor on Monday February 11, 2013 was witnessed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Hon. Augustine K. Ngafuan, Mr. Mohamed Salem Salim, Minister Plenipotentiary for Africa in the Libyan Foreign Affairs, Libyan Minister Accredited to Liberia,Mr. Charles McClain, Acting Minister of Agriculture among others.
