The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism (MICAT) says it remains vigilant in efforts to informing the citizens and residents of Liberia. A 5-man high power MICAT delegation headed by Norris Tweah, Deputy Minister for Administration on April 29, 2011 visited Voinjama, Foya and Zorzor districts aimed at taking government to the people and explaining the impact of the poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS) as it relates to government's achievements, since the UP-Led government headed by Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia.
In a release, MICAT says it has more to do with informing the people who were denied for decades the opportunity to hear about government deliverables and have access to their leaders.
Upon arrival in Voinjama, the MICAT Outreach team immediately organized a radio talk show on Radio Kitomah, a community radio situated opposite the Administrative Building, in Voinjama and discussed a wide range of issues regarding the wellbeing of the citizens and residents of Lofa.
During the interactive forum, which lasted for three (3) hours; scores of questions were asked by the citizens and residents of Foya. Prominent amongst the questions were mainly on the operation of ADA-Agriculture Company operating in Foya district, the ethnic conflicts amongst and between the Lormas on one head, and the Mandigos on the other, and the issue of security, among others.
The citizens through their spokesperson thanked and praised the efforts of the Ministry's Outreach team for providing sufficient education on the PRS and erasing what they referred to as falsehood and deception about government's policy, programs and the PRS deliverables.
In deliberation, Deputy Minister Tweah and head of delegation reassured the people of Lofa County that their plight remains a major priority of the UP-lead Government- a fact manifested through the several undertakings by the Government under the distinguished leadership of Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. He named the Nimba Community College, the brand new University City in Fendell, HIPC Completion point, the construction of a modern police complex in Vionjama, the huge number of enrollment of students at the primary levels as some of government's achievements. Road Constructions in the various districts, clinics, the provision of local and foreign scholarships, amongst others are some of the achievements, Deputy Minister Tweah indicated.
