Normal working activities could not take place Monday at the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL) as a result of a fire incident at the entity. The fire which began early Monday morning, saw employees who were already in the offices of the entity running down the stairs when the news broke out, as others who were on their way, had to remain downstairs to allow fire service safety team move in.

A project titled “Young people as agents of change helping to transform slum settlements,” has been launched in Monrovia by the Liberia YMCA. Launched at the entity's headquarters on Friday May 16, 2013 the project seeks to strengthen community resilience and improve living conditions in six slum communities (in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Togo), utilizing the energy and drive of young people as catalysts for change:
