As part of the Independence Day celebrations, the Chief Patron of Sports, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has endorsed a decision by the Liberia Football Association to host a three-day special Independence Day sub-regional tournament in her honor. The tournament will bring together the National Teams of Ghana, the Black Stars, Selli Nationale of Guinea and the Lone Star of Liberia. A Special 15-member Mobilization Committee to raise the necessary funds is being chaired by Mr. Emmanuel Shaw, a prominent businessman and sports enthusiast.

Press secretary Cyrus Badio says President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf wanted to encourage Liberians captivated by Africa's first World Cup. Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has promised to give $1,000 U.S. dollars and a vuvuzela to any Liberian who correctly predicts the two final teams and the winner of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

A six day Kickball tournament has finally left the ground with ten participating communities with a single objective, capturing a prestigious trophy in District # 4 in Montserrado County. The competition geared up with a youthful parade from Wroto Town to the SOS sports pitch in Old Matadi Estate; commencing with Lakpazee #1 falling to Gbangay Town 13-1 home runs while New Matadi Estate bowed to Vai Town 8-4 as Central Matadi galloped over Wroto Town 5-3 home runs in day one. A six day John Randall Peace and Reconciliation tournament today kicks off in Matadi District #4 with ten participating communities expected to knock horns in a grand kickball competition. The competition is expected to begin with a parade from Wroto Town Junction to the SOS Sports pitch where the official match will commence, that is intended to unify residents of the areas in an effort for renewal in peace building.

I.E. fans both locally and internationally have been rallying to support the new Management Team of Invincible Eleven, according to the team's President, the National Investment Commission Chairman, Dr. Richard V. Tolbert. Dr. Tolbert said he has been receiving phone calls and text messages of support from fans of I.E. all over the world including Europe, U.S.A. and even China. These fans expressed their willingness to not only work with Dr. Tolbert and his Team, but also to fully support I.E. financially. One of those fans, Mrs. Lynda Taylor, along with her husband Mr. Shadrick Taylor, of Charlotte, North Carolina, U.S.A, recently came into the Country and donated a set of 19 jerseys to the President of I.E. for the Team.
