 Before the days of St. Augustine of Hippo, many moral philosophers and theologians struggled to answer these questions: Is it good to lie? Should we lie? Individually or collectively, have we ever lied? Why do we lie? Is lying permissible? Should we lie under certain conditions? Should we lie because it is a habit? Is lying innate? Do we always tell the truth and nothing but the truth? In public and in private, in prosperity and in poverty, do we always tell the truth? If we don’t usually tell the truth, what are those things, if any that are holding us down or preventing us from telling the truth? Just as those moral philosophers and theologians over the decades, struggled to answer these questions, so also is our generation.

Lord, our land has become a nursery of not just political crimes including corruption at all levels of government, but equally a place where blood-letting through ritualistic means is gradually becoming an organized act. Ritualistic killing has and continues to rear its ugly head in our society from one administration to the other.
