World leaders and some 40,000 people converged on Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in June in the hope of charting a path towards a better, more sustainable future for everyone that many are calling the “green economy.” Underlining the urgency, Sha Zukang, secretary-general of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, said more than a year before the summit began: “If we continue on our current path, we will bequeath material and environmental poverty, not prosperity, to our children and grandchildren.”

Apparently assumed by some segments of the Liberian society that believe that evolving from experiences earned over the past decades in which governance of the Republic has been suited purely to chronoism in which self-seeking rather that of others remain the practice, members of the 53rd Legislature, having ended the two weeks Independence Day Break, yesterday resumed normal session that was Wednesday greeted by their implicit involvement into what would successfully lead to the passage of the National Budget.

Dear God In Heaven: Thanks a million times Lord for keeping our nose above the water even in the face of the prevailing unbearable social and economic conditions our government has created for us. We the concerned citizens of the Republic of Liberia are quite aware that your heart grieves and your are often provoked to anger every minute that turns around the clock whenever you gaze though the windows of heaven and see Liberia and Liberians still crawling low from abject poverty, hunger and disease in their own land.
